My Homeschool Experience
From grade 1 to grade 10, my parents homeschooled me.
Many people tend to see homeschooled kids as shy and introverted people who don't know how to socialize well. As a child, the number one question I got was "How do you get to hangout with people?" or they would ask my parents "Pano yung communication skills ng bata?". Because they assume that since I'm at home all day, I don't have friends. They also assume that homeschooling is a way to isolate your child from the real world.
When in reality, homeschooling is such a great way to educate your child. I used to hangout with my fellow homeschooler friends and go on field trips all over the world. Even now that I am studying in a regular school, I still prefer homeschooling. Being homeschooled didn't just educate me to my highest level, it also let me build on my maturity and independence, start a business at the age of 9, and build on my interests and passions. I am so grateful that I was homeschooled and I definitely recommend homeschooling your children.
How I Started Songwriting
My dad, Ogie Cayabyab, is a gospel singer-songwriter. So growing up, we traveled with him to his concerts. I always wanted to sing on stage just like he did.
On my piano, I wrote my first song at age 9. Changing the lyrics to "All We Have is Love" by Sabrina Carpenter, I rewrote the song to a simple song about following your dreams.

I learnt how to play guitar at age 11. Naturally, more and more songs and poems were written. All my notebooks and digital notes were filled with just lyrics.

At age 14, my mom made a joke about how I always write songs about boys and how I should write a song about her. Though it was completely a joke, I took it seriously and wrote one anyway. I though to myself, "What is something that reminds me of my mom?". The first thought was pink roses, since pink roses are her favorite kind of flower. I wrote the line "I think of you every time I see pink roses". I finished the song a day later.
On my 18th birthday, we released Pink Roses to all streaming platforms.

Music was and still is such a big part of my life ever since I was a little girl. It's in my family and it's in my everyday. I don't know who I would be with it.
